This month, Hubspoke Media is celebrating 10 years of capturing media, telling stories and working with fantastic North East businesses. We asked the team here at Hubspoke Media to share some highlights from projects they’ve worked on over the last decade – here’s what they had to say!
Adam Walker, Company Director – Q&A
Founding Hubspoke Media way back on 20th May 2016, Adam Walker has (as you can probably guess) been here longer than the rest of the team! Always wanting to set up a business of his own, Hubspoke Media came to be from his passion for marketing and capturing stories through photography.
“The best thing about the job at Hubspoke Media honestly is the people. Whether that’s the people I get to work with in-house in our team or it’s our clients. I get to meet a whole range of people in this job!”
Adam reflected on some of the amazing opportunities that came with capturing media, as well as some of the weird ones, as he talks about his time capturing photos at the World Body Building Championships, where, whilst taking photos from backstage, he was tasked with rolling of sweat to protect the competitors’ fake tan – who ended up winning the competition!
10 years have also seen a huge shift in programmes and tech becoming more accessible to the masses. We asked Adam which piece of software he preferred: Adobe Photoshop or Canva?
“If I had to choose between Adobe Photoshop and Canva – for me, it all started in Photoshop, and I do love Photoshop. But Canva is also a really impressive tool and I’d recommend it to many people. Canva is a really powerful tool it’s got many things in their for editing video not just create a leaflet, you can do so many more things in Canva. However for the hardcore people Photoshop is an incredible tool.”
We also asked Adam to tell us the most challenging project he’s worked on over 10 years. The project that stood out to him was when Hubspoke Media were asked to produce an advert for cinema. It was an exciting project to work on, being able to see the end result on the big screen – but that wasn’t all! The cinema advert was then broadcast as TV advert through Sky. This was a challenge as producing an advert for cinema and TV has two sets of requirements, with Adam needing to learn lots about the approval processes, the technical and codec requirements and producing audio for cinema in Dolby 5.1 Digital Surround Sound. Watch the full cinema advert here!

Alina Badin, Content Creator – Q&A
Starting with us nearly 4 years ago Alina joined Hubspoke Media as an apprentice, learning the photography and video editing skills alongside her studies at Darlington College. Since joining the team as a permanent member of staff, Alina has taken on the responsibility of producing and editing podcasts as well as video editing any other projects that come her way!
As she spends a lot of her time in our podcast studio in Darlington Stream Space, we asked her if there was a podcasting memory that stuck with her.
“A podcasting highlight that stuck with me would be one the guests phone rang right as we pressed record, and it was quite funny!”
Another highlight for Alina was when Maddie the Dog was featured on a podcast. Maddie was a therapy dog rescued from Romania who joined her owner on a client podcast, and was incredibly well behaved with a polaroid of them appearing on our podcast wall of fame!

Whilst Alina has worked with us, she has learnt a lot of different software which has helped create the eye-catching content produced at Hubspoke. So we had one burning question to ask her: Premiere Pro or Da Vinci Resolve?
“If I had to pick from Premiere Pro and Da Vinci it would have to be Premiere Pro, I feel like you can do a lot more in it and I have more experience. But if it’s a podcast, it would have to be Da Vinci.”
When Alina isn’t busy working on a video edit, she assists with media sessions where needed. A highlight for her was when she was able to fly the drone in her first week of the job! Looking into the future, Alina mentions that in the next 10 years, she’d love to see Hubspoke work on bigger and bigger projects with more TV advertising or even a short movie. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Adam Coleman, Content Creator – Q&A
Adam joined Hubspoke Media towards the end of 2024 as another content creator, focusing on client social media packages as well as other creative projects. Coming from a creative background in animation and content creation for other businesses, Adam loves to create, whether it’s videos for YouTube, designs for outdoor advertising or even attention-grabbing TV adverts!
“I don’t think there’s just one project that I enjoyed recently; there have been so many of them. There’s obviously the Darlington College advert, which was the stop-motion one we did with them which was really fun to do. Then we’ve recently just done one with Modeshift as well where a lot of new skills were learnt, with some stuff I’ve already done and built upon those skills.”
After asking Adam if he had a recent project that stood out to him, he reflects on the time he and Alina took the podcast studio on the road to Durham to film a very special episode with Sir Peter Vardy. The team set up the remote studio whilst ensuring the host and guest were comfortable, allowing them to have a great conversation in a fantastic venue.
“In terms of a block of work, the stuff we do for TeamLuke I’m really proud of. We do their design and their social media, so for the Family Fun Day, we did them some outdoor banners to go out over at the park or at different schools. I also did a design that went up on the billboard, which has gone out, so it’s really cool being able to see that.”
The team are excited to be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Hubspoke Media, all having some great memories on projects they’ve worked on over the last 10 years. We will be posting more about our 10th Anniversary on social media, so be sure to follow so you don’t miss out!
