We are nearly at the end of what has been a fantastic summer! We’ve had record heatwaves, great weather, and most importantly, a busy 6 weeks of non-stop work! From media sessions to events, in today’s blog, we are talking a bit about some of our favourite projects that we have worked on this summer.
Drone Photography
Whilst we’ve been graced with some great weather (sometimes a bit too nice!) the drone has been out taking media for clients. We were tasked by BCS Group to capture videos and content from three Leisure Centres across North Yorkshire, including Ripon, Thirsk, and Whitby.
The client worked on installing nearly 1000 panels across the three sites and wanted to shout about this with a written piece that was used as PR. Whitby was the last of these sites to be covered, blessed with gorgeous weather, and as you can see from this wide shot, a fantastic view from up high.

Podcasts in Stream Space
Darlington Stream Space has also been buzzing with activity over the summer, with new podcasts starting and returning clients inviting even more of their guests into the space.
A challenging but rewarding podcast involved the client asking if we could have 7 total speakers recorded and on video – one of them being dialled in on Teams! The team worked hard to create a workflow that allowed each person to be recorded, whilst having a monitor for the guests to hear and see the virtual guest, whilst also recording the virtual guest through a Teams call. In the end, it all paid off, and the clients were happy with the results – creating a cohesive conversation that ran smoothly.
Capturing Events in Darlington and Beyond
We were asked by Darlington Borough Council to take photographs of their Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, which ran throughout the summer holidays. This had multiple members of the team out at the same time, photographing activities such as birds of prey, Taekwondo, American football, and even a game of Quidditch!
Hubspoke Media also supported the photography and written PR piece for Theatre Hullabaloo’s sponsorship boost with Northumbria Financial Management. This took place in the Hullabaloo’s play space and their ‘cloud’ installation, which had a focus on the relationship between children and technology. It was a really beautiful space to photograph and may have been the most colourful export we have ever made.
Sports photography in Durham
From play spaces to the sports pitch, we also took our cameras to an evening sports session to collate media for a recent client, Inspire IDP. We are helping them with their social media, marketing, and online presence, including paid advertising.
Adam Coleman took the cameras, mics, and tripods to capture a mix of high-action photos and videos that told founders’ stories and more. We are excited to be working with such an innovative business; check them out here.
Animating 25 years of ModeShift
We were asked to create an animation that celebrated 25 years of the organisation, which would be shown at their event at the Houses of Parliament. This was a fun project that required a great level of detail from both sides and created a finished video that captured 25 years of history.
Adam Walker did the voice-over for the video and was lucky enough to actually be at the event and see the video played in front of the ModeShift Team. Check out the finished animation below.
Interim work with the Journal of Management Studies
Over the last year, we have worked closely with the Journal of Management Studies, bringing a 60+ year journal into the 21st Century with a newly developed brand and website. We have recently been tasked with interim work whilst they are hiring for a new editor.
This involves receiving their academic Early View papers and Insight blogs, formatting them on their site for publication, and then sharing them across their 6 platforms. It’s been a fun opportunity where we have learnt a lot about the world of academics, and we are excited to continue supporting them.
Media Sessions and other events
The Hubspoke team has also had their share of event coverage, taking photos and video for the Darlington Workspaces Summer Social event, producing live property webinars for Carvers Residential, and attending and recording the Our Darling Town Wrap party, for which we also produce their podcast in the Darlington Stream Space studio.
With a busy summer wrapped up and finished we are looking forward to the many projects we have lined up from now until Christmas. If you want to keep updated on the latest work we have completed, follow us on our socials. Oh, and we all managed to get a holiday too!
