“We are interested in TV advertising” the request we heard in late 2021. We were working with a client who was interested in promoting their organisation on TV. Being a digital agency, we are well placed to deliver on such a request. However, at the time we actually knew very little about how to place an ad on tv.
So, the research began and very quickly we started to established the required workflow for TV advertising and the processes that need to happen. This is all well and good but ultimately, what does it come down too? PRICE.
Not necessarily our price, but the price to place the ad on the box in peoples homes. We knew that ultimately, this will determine if this is a goer. So, we began the meetings and phone calls to find the price for placement and understandably it is considerable. After all your ad is being broadcast to thousands of homes across a region so you would expect the price to be high.
Then fast forward twelve months we had delivered a cinema advertising campaign. Our produced advert was sandwiched between Kevin Bacon and Rowan Atkinson (not that they knew that) and was on the big screen for all to see. Following the success of the campaign the client – Darlington College said – “let’s take it onto to TV”. Excited at the opportunity again the work started at great pace.
This is where AdSmart from Sky came in. AdSmart is the revolutionary approach to TV advertising which levels the playing field, so businesses of all shapes and sizes can benefit from the unrivalled power of TV. This in effect make TV adverting more targeted. AdSmart allows businesses of all shapes and sizes to benefit from the most trusted and effective way to advertise – reaching the right audience, in world class content, for a lot less than you might think.
The campaign itself went incredibly well and in fact building on the success of the campaign it was repeated a further two more times. We were then fortunate enough to pitch an idea for adult learning courses. Hubspoke Media wanted to do something that was unique and eye catching that drew the attention of the viewer. So we pitched a top down stop motion animation idea featuring two adults interacting with some of the course content that they can experience at the college.
Following the pitch and story boarding we set to work gathering the relevant advertising approvals and made the pre-production plans for the shoot. Shoot day came and we got to work carefully working our way through the storyboard. All went to plan with the shoot and we were ready for the edit. The edit is where a video is brought to life – where the concept for the video realised (hopefully).
The team at Sky were great, they were really helpful and we always on hand to deal with you queries and or questions. So is this an advert for AdSmart – well no, it is our honest experience a great ‘product’ and solution for businesses to advertise their business. Both our client and ourselves have had a great time working on AdSmart and we are looking for our next campaign…
