With the arrival of 2026 we have of course updated our showreel. 2025 was an action-packed year and we got our teeth into some major projects. So with that in mind, here is what we think is happening with video in 2026!
Video is here to stay
YouTube is the second most popular social media platform, with Facebook taking top spot. Video consumption has seen a huge increase with the arrival of platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat over recent years. All major social media platforms are now offering some form of vertical video content viewing, meaning you need to make sure you edit for each and every platform. (Source:YouGov)
Podcasting very quickly became the “Vodcast”.
The need for the video podcast or the “Vodcast” has seen a shift to people wanting video content in addition to their audio only content. The benefits of this are far reaching as short form content can be used across social media channels. Therefore you have the benefits of both long and short form content. Spotify equally has developed it’s platform to show video for podcasts that are in the video format. Not only now are people listening, they are watching too.
Story telling remains to be at the heart of good video content.
For years the human race have shared stories and this is just as important today. One thing is creating a sharp crisp video, however the whole impact can be brought down by the lack of story. Hooking into those human elements has never been more important. Here at Hubspoke Media we are continually developing our soft skills such as story telling in addition to our hard technical skills. In a world full of media story telling offers you a point of difference.
Simple can deliver more
A simple shoot can often deliver the most results. It is easy to get dragged into complicated edits. Lots of camera movement can often detract from the message. So consider simplicity when shooting your next video. The digital space is full of noise, you can create a space away from this noise in your content.
Video and the marketing fit
Consider how video fits into your broader marketing environment. Are you using the content you create to it’s full potential? You can create blogs from your videos, using the content as a guide to inform the article. Equally, you can embed other films you have made into existing pieces, like this, the Hubspoke Media showreel for 2026 – Meta!
